AITuber’s answer to the CapCut MCP search: what we checked, what the community servers do, and what to connect for a finished video.

There is no official CapCut MCP server for Claude. We checked on 19 September 2026. ByteDance has not published one, and CapCut has no public editing API to wrap. What does exist is a handful of community projects on GitHub. They write CapCut draft files to your disk. You then open the draft in the CapCut desktop app to finish it and export. None of them renders an MP4, adds captions on its own, or posts the video.

CapCut does not connect to Claude. Community servers get you a draft. A generation server gets you the video.

What we checked, and what we found

We looked in four places on 19 September 2026. CapCut’s own website, Anthropic’s connectors directory, GitHub, and the MCP directories (Glama, PulseMCP, LobeHub, mcpmarket).

CapCut’s site has a page called “AI API”. It is a template gallery with marketing copy. It names no endpoints, no SDK, no sign-up, and it never mentions MCP or Claude. CapCut’s developer platform is for editor plug-ins, not for driving the timeline from outside.

Anthropic’s connectors directory is an app-store style catalog. Every CapCut result we could find pointed at a community GitHub repo, not at ByteDance.

GitHub is where the activity is. We found more than a dozen repos with “capcut” and “mcp” in the name, most of them forks or wrappers of one Python project. We opened each one listed below and pulled its stars, licence, and last push from the GitHub API.

So the honest answer is no official server. The community route is real but narrow. It ends at a draft, not a video. If ByteDance ships a server, we will update this page with the setup.

What CapCut is, and why people want it in Claude

CapCut’s recent history is why people want a chat-driven route. CapCut was pulled from US app stores on 19 January 2025 and came back the next day. The January 2026 Joint Venture deal now covers it. India has blocked it since June 2020, and the block is thorough. On 19 September 2026, capcut.com answered every request from India with HTTP 451, “Unavailable For Legal Reasons”. That is why this post has no CapCut screenshot. In June 2025 the Terms of Service changed to give CapCut a broad licence to uploaded content. Our post on whether CapCut is getting banned has the full timeline.

A workflow that lives inside one app can vanish overnight. A workflow that starts in a Claude chat feels safer, because the app at the end can be swapped. That is why “capcut mcp claude” is a search. People want to type “cut the pauses and add captions” and have it happen.

The community CapCut MCP servers, and what they do

Every project below writes CapCut’s draft format to disk. CapCut then opens the draft like any other project. That is the trick, and it is also the limit. The draft format is proprietary and undocumented, and it changes between CapCut versions. The maintainers say so themselves.

Stars, dates, and licences come from the GitHub API on 19 September 2026.

VectCutAPI: the one most of the others wrap

VectCutAPI is the project people usually mean. It started life as CapCutAPI. It needs Python 3.10 or newer, FFmpeg, and the CapCut or JianYing desktop app. You point it at video, audio, image, and text files. It writes a dfd_ draft folder with multi-track timelines, keyframes, subtitles, and effects. There is an mcp_server.py for Claude, Coze, and Dify over stdio.

Two things are not open source: the MCP editing agent and the cloud rendering modules. So the free part gives you a draft, and rendering is still CapCut’s job.

capcut-ai-editor: the smartest narrow tool

This one solves a single problem well. You record a talking-head video, import it into CapCut, and run CapCut’s auto captions. The server reads that caption data. It removes silences longer than one second and spots repeated takes, keeping the last one. It saves the change back into the draft.

The catches are real. It edits the project in place with no backup. It only works with CapCut’s own captions. CapCut sometimes needs a restart to see the change. Still, for a creator who films to camera, it is the closest thing to “Claude, tighten this”.

JmsLdrn/capcut-mcp: editing drafts you already have

Most CapCut MCP servers create drafts. This one edits them. It opens draft_content.json, then lets Claude add, move, trim, or split clips, text, and audio. It validates the file and saves with a backup. You must close CapCut first, because CapCut autosaves on a timer and would overwrite the change. Effects, transitions, and animations are “best-effort”, in the author’s words. Six stars, but the README is the most candid of the group.

What none of them can do

No project exports an MP4. You open CapCut and click Export yourself.

No project writes captions from scratch. VectCutAPI places subtitle text you give it. capcut-ai-editor reads captions CapCut made. Neither transcribes.

No project publishes. There is no YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram step.

None is supported by ByteDance. If a CapCut update changes the draft schema, the server breaks until a volunteer fixes it.

CapCut vs generate: two different jobs

CapCut edits footage you already have. A generation server makes the footage, so there is less to edit.

That split decides your route. If you filmed something and need to cut it, you need an editor. Use CapCut, or one of the best free CapCut alternatives if the Terms of Service or the price bother you. We’d send anyone with a folder of footage to a real editor, not to an MCP server.

If you have an idea and no footage, you do not need CapCut at all. You need a server that writes the script, picks a voice, makes the visuals, captions it, renders it, and posts it. That is what AITuber’s MCP server does. It does not edit video you upload. It generates a new one from a prompt. Our AITuber vs CapCut comparison lays the two side by side.

From inside Claude, a community CapCut server hands you a draft to finish. CapCut by hand finishes it, without Claude. AITuber returns the video, posted.

There is nothing to install. AITuber’s server is hosted at https://mcp.aituber.app.

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, in Claude on the web or Claude Desktop.
  2. Click Add custom connector and paste the server URL. The Claude MCP server for video page has the exact steps with screenshots.
  3. Sign in with your AITuber account. No API key is pasted into Claude.
  4. Start a new chat and ask for a video. Say the topic, the length, the aspect ratio, and where to post it.
  5. Approve the tool call. AITuber writes the script, picks a voice from more than 1,300, and generates the visuals. It adds word-synced captions, renders the MP4 in 9:16 or 16:9, and publishes to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, or X.

In Claude Code, one command does the same: claude mcp add --transport http aituber https://mcp.aituber.app. The server also works in Cursor, Codex, and ChatGPT. Our guide to AI video generation in Claude with MCP has prompts that work well.

The honest read. The community servers are impressive engineering against a closed format. They are also fragile, and they end where the hard part begins. For video from a Claude chat, AITuber is the route that finishes the job.

Who should use what

Use a community CapCut MCP if you are a developer, you film your own footage, and you enjoy fixing a server when CapCut updates. VectCutAPI for building drafts, capcut-ai-editor for tightening talking-head takes.

Use CapCut, or an alternative, if you have footage and want to edit it by hand. Our best free CapCut alternatives post covers the no-watermark options.

Use AITuber if you want to ask Claude for a video and find it on your channel. The same MCP server for AI video generation works in ChatGPT, Cursor, and Codex. Our best MCP servers for AI video generation roundup compares it with the rest of the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

Basics

Is there an official CapCut MCP server?

No, as of 19 September 2026. ByteDance has not published one. CapCut’s “AI API” page is a template gallery with no docs, and CapCut has no public API for editing the timeline. Every “CapCut MCP” we found is a community project on GitHub.

What does a community CapCut MCP server actually do?

It writes CapCut’s draft file format to your disk. Claude tells the server which clips, text, and audio to place, and the server builds a draft folder. You open that draft in the CapCut desktop app to review and export. No project renders the video itself.

Can Claude edit videos in CapCut?

Only through a community server, and only as a draft. Claude cannot click Export, transcribe captions, or post to TikTok through any CapCut server we found.

Setup

How do I connect CapCut to Claude?

Install one of the community servers, such as VectCutAPI, on the computer where CapCut is installed. It needs Python 3.10 or newer and FFmpeg. Add the server to Claude Desktop or Claude Code as a local MCP server. Ask for a draft, then open it in CapCut. Close CapCut before the server writes, or CapCut’s autosave overwrites the change.

Which CapCut MCP project is the safest bet?

VectCutAPI, formerly CapCutAPI. It has 2,232 stars, an Apache 2.0 licence, and a push on 12 September 2026. Most of the other servers wrap it. fancyboi999/capcut-mcp was archived on 20 August 2026, so skip that one.

Does the AITuber MCP edit my CapCut footage?

No. AITuber generates a new video from a prompt. It writes the script, adds a voice and visuals, captions it, renders the MP4, and publishes. If you need to cut footage you filmed, use CapCut or another editor.

Comparisons

What is the closest thing to a CapCut MCP for Claude?

For editing footage, VectCutAPI’s MCP mode, with the draft-only limit. For a finished video from a prompt, AITuber’s MCP server. Our roundup of the best MCP servers for AI video generation compares the generation side.

Is CapCut banned, and does that affect an MCP?

CapCut is available in the US under the January 2026 Joint Venture deal. India has blocked it since June 2020. A community MCP server runs against the desktop app on your machine, so a ban would stop the app, and the server with it.

Final verdict

No official CapCut MCP server exists. The community servers are real, and the best of them are well built. They give Claude a way to assemble or tidy a CapCut draft. They do not export, caption from scratch, or publish, and they break when CapCut changes its format. If you have footage, use CapCut or an alternative and edit it yourself. If you have an idea and want the video on your channel, connect AITuber’s Claude MCP server for video and ask for it.

How we researched this: we checked capcut.com, Anthropic’s connectors directory, GitHub, and the Glama, PulseMCP, LobeHub, and mcpmarket directories on 19 September 2026. Star counts, licences, and last-push dates come from the GitHub API that day. We read each listed project’s README for what it writes, what it requires, and what it cannot do, and we quoted the maintainers’ own limits. CapCut’s availability facts match our earlier ban coverage. The MCP download figures are from the Linux Foundation’s 14 September 2026 press release. AITuber is a product we build, so every comparison is flagged, and the CapCut and community details are kept accurate and current. If ByteDance ships an official server, this page will be updated.
